SC-59 Cobaltian Smithsonite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
illustrated : painting in Eberhard Equit book
Small Cabinet, 8 x 6 x 4 cm

I think the pictures pretty clearly convey how special this specimen is, with its unusually distinct and well-developed crystallization. The color, as well, is vivid. This piece was illustrated in a painting in Eberhard Equit's first volume. At the time it was in the Wolfgang Henckel collection. This was a treasured smithsonite in the collection, for its uniqueness and aesthetic qualities.

SC-19 Cobaltian Smithsonite
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Dr. Stephen Neely Collection
Small Cabinet, 9 x 7.5 x 4 cm

John Schneider Photo

This is a superb, pristine piece with large glassy crystals of attractive pastel-pink smithsonite! Specimens of this size, in this aesthetic calibre, are uncommon. This important specimen has a good pedigree back to Prosper Williams, who brought it back from Tsumeb in 1974 and sold it to Gene Tribbey. The piece comes with his notes, and additional notes by Steve Neely who owned it until 1997 when he sold his first collection.

SC-52 Cobaltian Smithsonite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Schwethelm Collection
Cabinet, 12 x 9 x 4 cm

John Schneider Photo

This remarkable large specimen was one of the major smithsonites in the famous Schwethelm Collection, and was an important addition to the Sussman collection for its rich color and size both. The color is more deep red than most cobaltian smithsonite, and the condition is as pristine as you could expect in such a large piece.

SC-62 Cobaltian Smithsonite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Cabinet, 15 x 11 x 6 cm

John Schneider Photo

A major smithsonite specimen that is perhaps lacking in color intensity compared to the above (which is above average in any case), but makes up for it with sheer display drama of dozens of 2-cm-plus crystals, one atop another! The third large smithsonite of pink color flanking one of the Sussman's cases, it really stands out!

SC-204 Cobaltian Smithsonite (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
ex. Erik Louw Collection
Miniature, 4 x 2.1 x 1 cm

John Schneider Photo

An unbelieveably elegant miniature with sharply elongated smithsonite crystals perched on a small bit of gossan matrix. Pristine! Erik Louw was a miner on the dioptase stope who traded extensively and accumulated one of the finest Tsumeb miniatures collections, purchased in entirety by the Sussmans in the late 1990's.

SC-203 Cobaltian Smithsonite
Tsumeb, Namibia
Cabinet, 10 x 6 x 5.5 cm

An unusually large specimen to be found in such good condition, with sharp smithsonite crystals to 1.8 cm in size arranged around a central cavity/vug. The crystals have a rich purply-pink color to them, and are translucent. Large specimens of fine pink smithsonite are few and far between, these days, and this is a VERY showy example.

This specimen features pale pink cobaltian smithsonite crystals to 2 cm in size, arranged nicely on galena matrix! The piece is somewhat better in person as the crystals are reflective and make the shots look over-lit. In person, the piece has a pleasing pink color that is better than shown. This is a super specimen for the price, because of the large size, sharp form, and translucency of the crystals, as well as the overall 3-dimensional aesthetics. Comes with custom-made lucite display base

SC-201 Cobaltian Smithsonite
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.5 x 4 x 4 cm

A very aesthetic specimen with sharp, striated pink crystals to a whopping 3 cm or so in size!!!! This is huge for pink smithsonite xls of this type and the fat, thick crystals really make the piece stand out from other miniatures.
