RUT362 - Anglesite - $125
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Miniature, 3.6 x 2.2 x 1.7 cm

A very pretty miniature of tabular Anglesite crystals on matrix. The largest ones, about .7 cm in size, are yellow with completely transparent and gemmy terminations (edges). An excellent miniature with fine aesthetics. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT363 - Lepidocrocite - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.5 x 5.1 x 5 cm

A superbly rich speicmen featuring very fine , reddish micro-crystals of a rare Tsumeb mineral. This is not to be overlooked by its superficial ugliness! Under a microscope, and with light, it glows and presents an extremely fine example of this species. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT365 - Galena - $950
Tsumeb, Namibia
Large Miniature, 5.8 x 4 x 3.2 cm

A quote from Ed's own label card: "This may not be the most beautiful specimen in the Collection, but it may be the most important. This one should go into a museum!! From teh collection of Dr. Geier, the mine mineralogist for 25 years. I purchased this specimen from Miriam and Julius Zweibel who brough ti tback from Tsumeb in 1978 specifically for me. Crystals of galena are uncommon from Tsumeb and rarely reach 1 cm in size...a quote from the Min Record Tsumeb issue, page 25. "

These crystals reach up to 1.8 cm! They feature sharp crystals showin gthe cubic form modified by octohedral faces. Associated microminerals include Cerussite, Anglesite, Mimetite, and Quartz. Despite all its production of lead, galena was indeed rare throughout Tsumeb's history! Truly an amazing and important Miniature for any collection of Tsumeb material. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT366 – Aragonite var. Tarnowitzite - $400 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.2 x 3.7 x 3.5 cm

An exceptionally beautiful radiating spray of lustrous perfectly-terminated Aragonite crystals that have no damage. Thecrystal habit is indicative of the type of aragonite from Tsumeb which has lead included within it (known as Tarnowitzite). These crystals also fluoresce a beautiful red in short wave UV. A great specimen, and much better in person! The slight yellow-green color may be due to the presence of minute traces of nickel, hence this is probably of the more specific varietal known as nicholsonite. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT369 - Mimetite - $1750
Tsumeb, Namibia
Large Thumbnail/Small Miniature, 3 x 2.6 x 2.3 cm

Superb single 2.2 cm crystal of Mimetite that has excellent color, good luster and striations, and is partly gemmy. Even the smaller Mimetites are excellent, and the starkly contrasting sparkly dolomite background really sets the mimetite off nicely! Aesthetic as can be – one of my favorites, and you can see why. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT370 - Smithsonite - $1450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.7 x 5.2 x 2.4 cm

Very large (up to 2.2 cm) transparent to translucent scalenohedral crystals on matrix. The color ranges from light pink (cobaltian) to slightly yellow. This is a superb specimen of Smithsonite with incredible aesthetics for a miniature, and the rarest of habits - the elongated scalenohedra. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT371 - Cerussite - $2000
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.4 x 3.6 x 3.5 cm

Unusually thick crystal of the classic reticulated ‘snowflake’ Cerussite style. This is a cluster of intergrown, twinned, cerussite. The luster ranges from typically glassy along the terminations to unusually glassy and sparkling along the sides, which shimmer because of the fine degree of crystallization. A very nice specimen you can say elegantly demonstrates why these are still the most desirable cerussites in the world! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978

RUT375 - Smithsonite included by Hematite - $125 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Thumbnail, 1.6 x 1.6 x 1 cm

This is one of the more attractive, and certainly most amazing, Smithsonites that I have ever seen. It consists of sharp red phantoms within clear scalenohedral crystals. To say that this is unusual would be putting it mildly. SMALL but BEAUTIFUL! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1979

RUT376 – Gypsum var. Selenite - $350 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 8.8 x 4.7 x 4.2 cm

Very sharp cluster of water-clear Selenite crystals, with the largest being 6.5 cm. An excellent specimen all the way around. RARE FROM TSUMEB! Purchased from the Zweibels in 1979

RUT379 - Azurite - $175
Tsumeb, Namibia
Thumbnail, 2.4 x 1.6 x 1 cm

Very sharp crystal of Azurite on matrix. The luster is superb, and the habit unusually pyramidal and 3-dimensional. The very tiny bits of minute wear along a few edges does not detract at all from the aesthetics of the specimen as a competition-worthy thumbnail! It is quite lovely. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1980

RUT380 - Azurite on Anglesite - $450 (SOLD)
Tsumeb, Namibia
Small Miniature, 3.8 x 3 x 3 cm

This is a great crystal of Azurite: no dings, no damage, and no repairs. This highly lustrous crystal sits in a matrix of Anglesite! The smaller partial crystal in front actually sits on a Cerussite cyclic twin, and there are small crystals near the termination that may be pink Cerussite. This specimen has a lot of bang for the buck. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1980

RUT386 Willemite with Dolomite - $750
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5 x 3.5 x 1.25 cm

This is the most desirable combination of willemite from Tsumeb, to most people. It features gorgeous, gemmy blue crystals of willemite set off on white dolomite! These are not "balls", botryoids of some sort - these are real crystals with faces and striations, though its hard to tell except on close look. This material is extremely rare and this is a choice and aesthetic specimen of it

RUT388 - Cerussite - $200
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.4 x 3.4 x 2.4 cm

Gem clear, single crystal of Cerussite. The luster is absolutely superb, as it the clarity and termination. It is contacted on the back, and has some broken spokes on one side, but displays phenomenally for what it is and the price is adjusted down accordingly , beautiful as it may be. This is far better in person. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1981

RUT389 – Tsumcorite (XLS!!) with Wulfenite on Quartz - $850
Tsumeb, Namibia
Toenail/Small Miniature, 3 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm

This beautiful rarity has to be one of the nicest presentation-quality specimens of crystallized tsumcorite around. The quality of the crystals is really high because of many reasons: the size of the individual crystals , which are eye-visible, are relatively huge for the species; they have bright color instead of the usual rusty brown hues; sharp form as recognizable crystals instead of the usual crust of intergrown crystals (then, usually as micros); and the rich and attractive coverage on contrasting matrix. Quartz is also quite rare from Tsumeb, and the matrix concists entirely of quartz, hematite-stained a brown color. This is an exceptional and beautiful tsumcorite, and one of a style that is, for the reasons above, seldome see.

RUT390 Aragonite (pseudomorph?) - $95
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 5.3 x 5 x 4.8 cm

A shimmering cluster of aragonite pseudomorphed, one would guess, after something else like calcite. Odd and pretty!

RUT391 Cuprite with mimetite - $250
Tsumeb, Namibia
Thumbnail, 2.2 x 2.2 x 2 cm

Sharp, euhedral cuprite crystals are quite rare from Tsumeb, and this one is a great example with associated mimetite to prove that it really IS Tsumeb and isn't rather from Onganja elsewhere in Namibia, or Zaire. The piece is complete all around and 3-dimensional. In person, when backlit, it has a cherry red glow inside and is somewhat translucent.

RUT391 Malachite (Primary Crystals) - $450
Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 4 x 3.5 x 2 cm

An exceptional miniature with a sharp, radial cluster of elongated PRIMARY CRYSTALS of malachite, perched atop dolomite druse on cuprite-rich ore. The crystals are all terminated on the front display face, and sides. The radial aggregate is flatter on the back, but complete save for a small central contact spot. The ball is 2 cm tall and radiates with a glitter and lustre that is more apparent in person. Primary malachite means exactly that - it grew on its own, as opposed to replacing an original large azurite crystal. Crystals of this size are very uncommon and treasured. This also happens to be a very elegant display miniature, too! A VERY FINE specimen of a common species, in uncommonly good form!
