Lovely mass of intergrown calcite blades that form a near-perfect ball. Both the color and luster are good, and the contrast of the Calcite with the reddish matrix adds a huge amount of aesthetic appeal to the specimen. This is quite a pretty and interesting piece, to be sure.

A dramatic, gorgeous, and colorful specimen with deep green dioptase inclusions twinkling inside clear calcite rhombohedra that are so sharp you could cut your finger on one (as i did). The inclusions are, unusually, oriented along several planes of the crystal such that they leave a colorless rim of clear calcite around the included areas. Often, inclusions are oriented along one plane or another but seldom do the inclusion patterns reflect the actual crystal lattice as shown here. Some minor damage around the periphery but overall in pretty good shape, and the largest specimen of this highly desirable combo I have had for sale. Obtained before the Denver show, in South Africa in August 1986 just after the pocket was found.
